Upper Moreland Awarded Recycling Grant, Says Murt
12/9/2009
Rep. Thomas P. Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) today announced that Upper Moreland Township in Montgomery County has been awarded a grant from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) under the Recycling Performance Grant Program.

“The Recycling Performance Grant program provides incentives to communities to conserve our natural resources and protect our environment,” said Murt. “This grant will enable Upper Moreland Township to expand its recycling programs and it will encourage others to follow suit.”

Murt said Upper Moreland Township has been awarded a grant of $34,562.

Grant amounts are based on the total tons recycled for calendar year 2007 and the municipality’s population. The Recycling Performance Grant Program provides incentives to help Pennsylvania communities increase the amount of materials recovered through recycling and promote economic growth in the Commonwealth through job creation and market expansion.
